Westwood, Mass. – January 29, 2001 – The U.S. Computer Monitor Sales Group of Hitachi America, Ltd., a subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE: HIT), has extended by two years the warranty on new CRT monitors purchased after January 31, 2001. Hitachi has extended the limited warranty on parts, labor and the tube for CRT monitors from three years to five years to form the longest, most comprehensive warranty available from any major monitor company. Hitachi has also extended the warranty on the backlight for LCD monitors purchased after January 31, 2001 from one year to three years.

The warranty extensions apply to Hitachi’s branded CRT & LCD monitors purchased from the US computer monitor division and sold in the US after January 31, 2001. The product lines covered include the Hitachi CM series of 17", 19" and 21" monitors and its CML series of 15", 17" and 18" flat panel displays.
