New High-Performance Flat-faced Shadow Mask Monitor From Hitachi Tops Its 19" Ergoflat Line
Westwood, Mass – Hitachi America, Ltd., a subsidiary of Hitachi Ltd. (NYSE: HIT), today announced the addition of a new high-performance, high-resolution monitor to its award-winning ErgoFlat Line of 19" flat-faced shadow mask monitors. Hitachi’s new CM772 CRT delivers high resolutions, high refresh rates, and high video clock speeds that will meet the needs of discerning users in graphics, engineering, research and other applications in which top image quality and precision are critical.

The Hitachi ErgoFlat technology delivers all the advantages of an Invar Shadow Mask tube on a flat-faced monitor, creating a realistic, vibrant image, with less distortion and glare than traditional monitors. In addition, Hitachi’s ErgoFlat technology changes the shape of the deflection yoke and eliminates 90% of the color purity uniformity issues and convergence problems that affect flat-faced aperture grill monitors. This new design makes the monitor user-friendly by eliminating the need for the frequent convergence adjustments that aperture grill flat-faced models require. Furthermore, the new yoke design combines with advanced coating to provide an image that is 10% brighter than the average flat-faced monitor.

The CM772 monitor extends Hitachi’s 19" ErgoFlat line to provide higher resolution up to 1600x1280 at a flicker-free 85 Hz., for users who require extended viewing and high resolution.

The CM772 uses Hitachi’s exclusive PrecisionFocus technology, which results in a super-fine dot pitch of .22mm horizontal and 0.14 mm vertical to form one of the crispest, brightest images available. Other ErgoFlat design innovations built into the CM772 are reduced depth of only 17.7-inches, which enables this 19" monitor to have the same depth as conventional 17-inch monitors; a modified deflection yoke, which improves image uniformity and simplifies adjustments; and a more efficient beam landing pattern, which enhances contrast, brightness and results in one of the lowest power consumption ratios for a 19" monitor.

CM772 features Hitachi’s EasyMenu on-screen controls with adjustments for color temperature, trapezoid, DMS, pincushion, moiré and more. The environmentally friendly monitor is TCO ’99 approved and available for immediate shipping from Hitachi distributors worldwide. MSRP is $499.
