- My monitor does not display the
resolution I want and my monitor nominal says it supports
this resolution. What's wrong?
First, check to ensure your computer video
card supports these resolutions, some cards have
very specific frequency ranges and will not support
lower or higher resolution from what they consider the
"normal" or "optimal" range.
While the monitor may support the resolution, it is an
output device and will run from the resolutions your
computer video card will allow. Second, ensure
that you have used the correct resolution on your
video card and either the Hitachi or Microsoft
standard drivers.

- What does resolution mean?
Resolution refers to the number of dots (consisting of 1 or more pixels) displayed on the screen. The greater number of pixels displayed translates into more information displayed on screen.
- What is the difference between Interlaced and Non-interlaced monitors?
Interlaced monitors scan every other line during each total vertical screen refresh the unrefreshed lines begin to fade and cause flicker. Non-interlaced monitors scan each line during each total vertical screen refresh and result in a better quality, flicker-free image. Hitachi monitors are all Non-interlaced for quality flicker-free images.
- Why is the vertical refresh rate important?
The vertical refresh rate determines flicker - anything above 75Hz (Vesa Standard) is considered flicker-free. The higher the vertical refresh rates, the better. Please note that vertical refresh rates vary at different resolutions, so check each manufacturers maximum refresh rates at various resolutions when making a purchasing decision.
- What is dot pitch and why is it important?
Dot pitch is the distance of one phosphor dot to the nearest dot of the same color, on the adjacent line. The dot pitch determines the graininess of the image on the screen - the lower (smaller) the dot pitch, the crisper the image.
- What is the difference between Aperture Grill and Invar Shadow Mask technology?
Aperture Grill tubes use tiny vertical stripes of color the create the images while Invar Shadow Mask technology uses tiny dots of light in a heat resistant metal to create images. Hitachi monitors feature Invar Shadow Mask technology because it provides a brighter, better picture without the visible damper wire "shadow" lines across the screen that Aperture Grill tubes frequently present. So, Hitachi monitors provide crisper details for both text and graphics.

No. You can purchase any number of commercially available color calibration software packages available on the market.
- Are Hitachi monitors 110/220 switchable?

- How should I clean my Hitachi monitor?
We suggest dampening a lint-free cloth with warm water and wiping the monitor screen. Alternatively, special CRT screen cleaning solutions can be purchased at most computer stores. Caution: do not use alcohol or ammonia based products to clean your monitor screen, as this will damage the monitors anti-glare coating.
